The Boys are Back - And We Make it Look Good

Unfortunately, I am back home. Shoot. But the good people at the Korean Consulate General assured me that the E-2 Visa is on the way. So I'm thinking I'll probably leave for the great city of Seoul either Wednesday or Thursday.

The good thing about coming back to the US after one and a half months of Korean goodness is that I was able to attend the Halloween Extravaganza at the home of Chris and Co. Good times. The pictures say it all, I believe.

Another perk of coming home unexpectedly is hanging out with my little sister. She's a pretty cool costumer, that Anna. We went to HSM 3 this past week and were the only ones in the theatre. Naturally, we had to take advantage of the situation and dance along. We agree that this is the best part of the movie. Especially when Troy and Chad turn into little boys! And than the last segment when everyone has their last bow? Cause it's senior year? And they're not coming back? Come on! You gotta watch it. Just. Do. It.

Forever on the Dance Floor....Ever Ever Ever

So here are the long anticipated (by some) pictures of the apartment. It has yellow linoleum floors and a shower head over the sink. But it's very bright and easy to clean! The only down side is that the kitchen is the first thing I see when waking up in the morning. Maybe I'll purchase one of the folding screens to divide up the room. I'm also on the third floor of my building, so high enough that you can't hear the traffic. I took some pictures of Mike's apartment too, but it's pretty messy so I'm not going to post them.
There are also a few pictures of Korean Burger King, where we went tonight for dinner. Food is VERY cheap here, but my burger cost six thousand won (roughly six dollars). Oh well, it was worth every penny! And the restaurant was two floors tall, decked out in Marilyn Monroe/Audrey Hepburn pictures and played Rihanna and Chris Brown.
I also included a picture of the arch we walk through every morning on the way to school. It is at the entrance of Bangi Market where lots of people sell goods on the road like fish, nuts in piles, clothing, and pretty much anything you can think of. Except elephants. I haven't seen any of those for sale. The Dunkin Donuts is the place we go for coffee every morning. Mmmmmm.

Take me to the ball, babe....teach me how to dance

I'm long since back from California. My family took in the American ritual of putting their hands where the famous have gone before, as well as boogied with The King, swirled and twirled in my floaty dress, and discovered sand crabs thanks to my cousin Jerod and a 10-year-old marine biologist at Huntington Beach Pier. Whoo, run-on sentence.

In five days, Mike and I will be on our way to Seoul. I feel numb. It's not that I'm not excited. Its just that everyone asks me about Seoul, but I have few answers. I read my contract, I've talked to several people who have gone on similar programs, but I just won't know what it's like until I get there. I guess I'm ready for an adventure. To figure out what I take for granted in my comfy, mid-American life. I don't really care if I know what those things will be. That's part of the excitement. Or maybe I'm just naive. Probably a little of both. At any rate, I covet your prayers. Leaving my family for a year has not yet hit, although singing the benediction at Calvary this morning left me tear-y eyed.

Thursday. Seoul. I'll keep you updated.

her love pours like a fountain, her love steams like rage

In two days, my cousin Leslie is getting married in Chino. She's the one on the far right at the top. I'm the one with the weird expression on my face - summing up my awkward place in the Slegers relation. Michael is coming and we'll most likely spend some times in the Pacific waves. My family goes to California at least once every two years. The last few times I wasn't able to go/only went for a couple days because of camp or nannying. So I don't really know what there is to do in SoCal besides the beach and retail. Also, I'm supposed to buy Leslie something for her bachelorette party, which is way off my radar. Such are the frivolous worriments that have been clouding my head as of late. I'm savoring these last few days of summer before taking off for the next portion of life.

Also, my friend Amy did my hair this morning and was inspired by talk of California to give me pigtails. The little eight year old girls who were donating their tresses to locks of love were uber jealous. I love Amy. She feeds me almonds and chats about gerber daisies, new hairstyles, and living with your parents. She makes me feel girlie and indulged. The perfect relationship - she talks and I listen.

Me Me Me Me Me....sorry for such a narcissistic post.

For British Eyes Only

Bethie was here this weekend. Which made me one happy little girl, as you can see. And I guess it wasn't the weekend, but what's in a name? I wasn't working, so it was the weekend. We ate some overcooked Chinese, knit/crocheted, and watched Arrested Development with the always enlightening Rosstopher and TP McGee. Good folk and good times. Here's to you, Bethie boo boo boo bo bobobobo. :)

I Think about You in the Summer Time (ooh ooh)

I just returned from a five day stint in Ontario visiting Michael Dear. While there, I experienced many, many firsts:

1. First ride on a combine, hay baler, motorcycle, and tractor (which I also drove...for about seven minutes. Apparently, a clutch should be treated with care. Not pumped.)

2. First time shooting clay pigeons. Or should I say pigeon. Clay Pigeons: 12 Sarah: 1

3. First time viewing the only automated track system in North America. Mike's friend's family owns a pepper greenhouse that has this awesome system that rotates big bins of veggies around the building. When they get to a certain spot, a scale in the floor weighs the peppers.

4. First time being weighed in a pepper bin. Mike weighs 72 kgs. I weigh less than that.

5. First time swimming in Lake Huron. And seeing the gorgeous sand dunes surrounding the east shore. We went to the Pinery with Mike's folks, camped, and ate birthday cake. My birthday cake...

6. First time I forgot it was my birthday. I'm 23 and old. If you want to see pictures of some of my birthday loot, click here.

Cute, couple-y pictures of da dunes to come soon. Possibly.

You Know You're Famous When...

...you appear on Sesame Street to sing about the number four.
